Well, Hey there and welcome back to our series of videos that are walking you through how to edit and manage your website.
And so we've looked at how to edit the homepage, the about pages and some of the information on the connect page.
Now we are going to look at how to actually add content the main content to your site. So, first of all, let's get an idea of what, how this is designed to work in terms of your website in what we have.
So we basically have four main locations where things can be added to the first is the connect page, which we're looking at now, the connect page is really designed to be the hub of everything.
So the idea behind the connect page is that it's one place where anyone can go to find different ways to connect.
And that's, that's a very broad thing that can be through things like, for example, down here we have things like finding a group.
So we're finding a group and you know, that in this case it pulls up this form, this group form, they can fill out and get the process started to join a group.
And another thing that this can do is maybe point you over to a sermon series. So in this case, this points over to I podcast page as you can see there another thing is a watch online page you know, similar to the podcast page.
It takes you over to the a place where you could watch your your sermons. So we see the sermon podcasts.
This is a kids administry page. This is actually a page that we do add to the website by default. It's got a video embedded it's got information about children's ministry and youth ministry.
So there's, there's pages like that. And so any opportunity for someone to connect with your church, whether it be through one time event, a recurring program, or weekly, monthly, you know, small group that you offer, it is designed to go on the connect page.
Also, next steps are designed to go on, on the, on the connect page. So plan a visit this pulls up the plan, your visit form connect and serve pulls up a connection form.
So again, what we're looking at is, is opportunities that people can connect. And there's a lot of ways that that happens so that the connect page is the main hub of all of that.
But there are other places where information can show up the first or the second I should say, after the connect page is going to be the main menu.
Now, by default, you're always going to have the connect the about us and this claim, your gift button. Those are always going to be there.
But these three options right here find a group watch online and online giving. Well, those are, those are pulled from the content that those are customizable.
We can add more. We can take away. It's, it's usually best that you have three, four is kind of pushing it.
But two to three is usually the recommended amount of additional items to have up here. So that's in the top main menu.
And then if we scroll down, we can see the footer menu. Now in the footer menu, you always going to have home about us and connect.
You're also always going to have the login and contact us, but all of the stuff here in between in this case, playing a visit, find a group, no Jesus' sermon podcast and online giving.
These are all editable in that you can change if they display their add new things to display there. So the fourth location where content can show up is on the homepage and what we call the featured section.
And that's down here. Now, the featured section by default is only going to show the three top featured items. And so in this case, we're advertising the current sermon series.
We're putting a spot where people can request prayer and we have a kids and student ministry. Now this is also a great demonstration of the three really types of content that you can post the first and as demonstrated by this claimant's current sermon series rather is the external link.
So once again, we've already seen this on the connect page. When you click this, it takes you to a podcast page where someone could listen to the latest series in the service.
So it takes you away from the website to a new location. Again, namely that like a podcast page or a YouTube channel or a social media feed or something like that request prayer this pulls up the version of our connect forms.
And so this is another thing option that you can add with content is simply pulling up those forms. And by default, we have just about everything in there already, in terms of all the different versions of the form that he do pull up, we include them somewhere on the connect page.
And so you can add them to the featured page if you're the featured section of the homepage, the main menu, footer menu, if you want it.
So that's the second example. And the third example is an actual internal pay a webpage with additional content. So again, we've seen this kids at student ministry page, you're able to embed videos you know, and, and add information here.
And so that is the third example of content. So you have the external link, you have the pop-up link, that pot that does a pop-up of the connection form, and then you have the actual internal webpage.
Okay. So now let's actually look at how we're going to begin to edit this content. So we're going to go back here to the back of our site.
We've logged in, and we're just going to go down here to the content section. And right here, we're going to see all of the content listed that is currently on our website.
Now let's talk before about adding new content which is actually very straightforward. It's very similar to adding a new leader or a new value or belief like you've done on the about page.
So let's talk more about how to organize the content and how to get it to display in these different sections.
Probably the simplest way to do that is to use a filter. So for example, let's take a look at everything that's in our main menu and let's filter it by that.
Well, again, now we can see, find a group watch online, online, giving the three dynamic items that can be changed that are in this menu.
We can change the order. So we could say, I want watch online to appear a before, find a group. Okay.
I dragged and dropped it there. Now when I refresh it, that has changed. And so then let's say, okay, I want to see what's featured.
All right. Okay. So as you can see, we do have four items that are featured. However, we're only seeing three well that's because only the top three items are going to be the ones that actually display.
So let's say, well, I want my sermon podcasts to be the one to display instead of kids ministry. So we drug it into place there.
And now when we refresh the page, now sermon podcast appears same thing with our footer menu. We can see all the items in our footer menu.
Let's say, you know what? I don't really want this. I, I don't, I want this to appear here. Well, you, you know how to do that.
We're not going to get into that. I'm getting a little ahead of myself there. So let's actually, so the footer menu, and then the connect page, we can see that here as well, all the different items on the connect page.
And again, we can reorder them. We can change the way that they're ordered if we want. So this is how we edit the Infor or the different content and terms of where it appears on our site.
If it's going to appear on the connect page in the featured menu or in the featured section on the homepage, or in one of the, either the main menu or the footer menu, you can have items appear in all sections at the same time, or if you want them to appear in no sections.
That's what this archive is for. So we're going to talk more about that in the next video, as we actually start to explore adding new content and how we can add an edit the current content on our site.
